Practice Maturity Model¶
Why This Exists¶
This document defines the maturity model used to assess every Practice in the Algosure Digital Procurement Company.
Owner¶
The owner is the Chief Product Officer and Enterprise Architect.
Business Value¶
Practice maturity gives Algosure a consistent way to understand how manual, assisted, digital, AI-assisted, or autonomous each Practice is. It supports roadmap planning, capability investment, operational improvement, and governance.
Maturity Levels¶
| Level | Name | Definition |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Manual | Work is mostly human-directed, ad hoc, and dependent on manual review. |
| Level 2 | Assisted | Work is supported by templates, checklists, reminders, and basic workflow assistance. |
| Level 3 | Digital | Work is executed through structured digital workflows, domain records, events, and reporting. |
| Level 4 | AI Assisted | Digital Professionals and Intelligence support reasoning, summarization, recommendations, and execution assistance under guardrails. |
| Level 5 | Autonomous | The Practice can execute defined workflows with high autonomy, policy controls, auditability, and human oversight where required. |

Assessment Dimensions¶
| Dimension | Assessment question |
|---|---|
| Capability definition | Are the Practice capabilities clearly defined and owned? |
| SOP coverage | Are repeatable workflows governed by SOPs? |
| Domain alignment | Are source facts owned by the correct domains? |
| Digital Professional execution | Are Digital Professionals assigned and guarded? |
| Workflow digitization | Are workflows executable and traceable? |
| Event integration | Does the Practice collaborate through events and workflow triggers? |
| KPI measurement | Are objectives, KPIs, SLAs, quality metrics, and outcomes measured? |
| AI augmentation | Is AI used responsibly for reasoning, recommendations, and execution assistance? |
| Governance | Are decisions, approvals, exceptions, and escalations governed? |
| Continuous improvement | Does the Practice use feedback and performance data to improve? |
Maturity Rules¶
- A Practice cannot be Level 3 without defined workflows and domain alignment.
- A Practice cannot be Level 4 without Digital Professional guardrails and AI explainability.
- A Practice cannot be Level 5 without auditability, policy enforcement, and human oversight for high-impact decisions.
- Autonomy must not bypass domain ownership.
Relationship To Business Capabilities¶
Practice maturity is evaluated at both Practice level and capability level. A Practice may be Level 3 overall while one capability is Level 4 and another remains Level 2.
Executive Office Role¶
Executive Office coordinates maturity review across Practices. It does not redefine Practice ownership or source-domain ownership.
